The Wild Boys

By now it has been 20 years since a Danish government for the first time presented a target saying that 95 percent of a youth generation must complete a high school education. Yet nothing has really changed significantly and the statistics still show that about 20 percent of a generation does not complete an education.
The problem is especially evident in times of recession such as we find ourselves in right now. While youth unemployment rates took a dive in the golden years, it has grown dramatically since the economic crisis really began in Denmark in 2008.
The large number of young people with no education has huge consequences. Both for individuals who, not only, will have great troubles finding a permanent job but also are in danger of becoming the next generation’s social clients.
Furthermore, the economy is threatened. Several economic experts have suggested that the bill for the uneducated youth will end up at several hundred million Euros.

This is a story about a group of boys who now find themselves at a risk of not even getting started on a high school education.
They are in the phase between being a boy and becoming a man, where emotions run high, and where the requirement to make big decisions for the future seems hopelessly confusing. Boys whose daily lives are filled with too much weed, fights with their parents, ADHD, love issues and pranks.

Danny, 16, is practicing how to juggle with his butterfly knife.

Maria and From grew up together on Lolland.

From has brought his X-box to Hangover-Sunday the day after Danny’s 16th birthday party on Lolland. The new video game Skyrim is by his opinion the world’s coolest game.

Freddy, Laffe, and From make a pact. They must not smoke marihuana for 14 days. It will cost them a case of beer to break the pact. Already the next day From and Laffe owe Freddy a case.

At the 16th birthday party on Lolland some of the guests have to go to the yard to settle, who may look at which girls.

From is at a party.

From is reunited with his skateboard, which has been lying in Danny’s back yard for the past 6 months.

The boys live in the country, where everything you need is far away. Despite of that marihuana is not hard to find.

Once in a while From just needs to get something out of his boy, and so he screams or kicks something.

It is a little past 3 o’clock. Theis and his school buddy Martin hurries away from the production school. They are going to Theis’ new apartment in Vordingborg.

On one of his evening trips Theis meets a few of his friends. They exchange a few comments about day and life in Stubbekøbing. Later they meet up again at ”The View” where they share a pipe of marihuana.

From is high and tired. He hurries to catch the last bus home to his mom’s house.

Sarah has been begging From to come inside the club Prinsen all evening. Even though he does not like clubs much, he come closer. He loves the sight of Sarah. She knows how to dress so the right things are accentuated.

The music system is pushed to the limit while From and his good friend Laffe squeeze the last bit of energy out of their bodies. They have been to the club Diskotek Prinsen all night. 10 minutes later they are asleep.

Theis has used most of the night to decorate his new apartment. In return it costs him a day off work.
